Where We Are

Thirroul is a beautiful beachside suburb of the city of Wollongong, Australia. Situated between Austinmer and Bulli, it is approximately a 15 minute drive north of Wollongong, and an hours drive south of Sydney. It is a small town nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the stunning Illawarra escarpment

Driving & Parking

Jose Jones Restaurant & Bar is situated in the heart of Thirroul, which is only a 15 minute drive north of Wollongong, or a 1 hour drive south of Sydney.  We have plenty of on-site parking available at the bar and restaurant, and on those rare occasions our car park is full, there is free street parking right outside.

If you need more detailed directions to find us, please do not hesitate to call us anytime.

Secure, overnight parking is available, so if you suddenly decide to indulge in that extra cocktail, you can safely leave your car with us, and pick it up in the morning.  We can organise private taxis to take you and your party home, and even to bring you back in the morning if required.

Buses & Trains

Thirroul train station is only a 5 minute walk from Jose Jones.  There is also a bus stop less than 100 metres from our front door, so public transport is an easy option when visiting us.

Trains run from Sydney CBD (Central Station) every hour from early morning until late into the night, and it is only a 10 minute trip from Wollongong to Thirroul by train.  Buses run regularly from Wollongong to Thirroul, stopping at all suburbs in between, and run all the way through to Stanwell Park and Helensburgh.

On Foot

Thirroul’s perfect positioning between the escarpment and the ocean makes it home to endless walking trails perfect for beginners through to avid hikers.

There is a coastal footpath and cycling track that runs all the way from Wollongong to Thirroul, and some incredible scenic walks between Stanwell Park and Thirroul.  If you are feeling a little adventurous, why not take on the Sublime Point Walking Track and take in the stunning views from the top of the escarpment?

All of this activity is bound to leave you both hungry and thirsty…so why not stop by at Jose Jones, and we will refuel you for the next leg of your journey.
